Skills Bootcamp - HGV & PCV Driver Training Programme
AI Summary
The tender invites providers to design and deliver industry‑recognised skills bootcamps for heavy goods vehicle (HGV) and passenger cycling vehicle (PCV) drivers across South Yorkshire. The programme aims to address serious workforce shortages in the regional logistics, freight and public transport sectors by equipping learners with the knowledge, practical skills and licence credentials required for immediate employment or career progression. Both bootcamps must be crafted in partnership with employers, ensuring that the curriculum aligns with current recruitment demand, facilitates interview opportunities, and promotes smooth transitions into sustainable employment or new responsibilities within existing roles.
For the HGV bootcamp, the training must cover all elements required for learners to obtain a Category C or C&E licence, meet the Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) standards where applicable, and provide comprehensive employability support. The PCV bootcamp requires a focus on practical driving, licence attainment, customer service, passenger safety, disability awareness, safeguarding, and professional conduct in public transport. All training activities, assessments, testing, licence acquisition, and related delivery costs must be fully integrated, and providers should demonstrate robust employer partnerships that enable guaranteed interview opportunities or direct recruitment outcomes. Each programme shall be delivered within a 12‑month period with renewal contingent on meeting agreed performance, KPIs, and employer alignment. Technologies and training practices must comply with the latest industry regulatory standards for safety, licensing, and professional competence.
