Volunteering opportunities for people with learning disabilities
AI Summary
The procurement seeks a single contracted service to deliver Learning Disability Volunteering Opportunities across two London boroughs, enabling adults with learning disabilities or Autism support needs to access and benefit from volunteering placements. The contract will commence in April 2027 and is intended to maintain, and ideally enhance, the support structures that have previously been provided under separate agreements in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster City Council. The service provider will design, promote and arrange volunteering opportunities in a range of voluntary, educational, health and social care settings, thereby fostering skill development, improving confidence, and reducing social isolation among participants.
In practical terms the service must engage a defined cohort of residents—approximately 40 in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and 45 in Westminster City Council—through tailored support that meets Care Act 2014 eligibility criteria. Activities will be coordinated to encourage community integration, personal growth, and the potential for employment pathways within the voluntary sector. The contract is expected to run for at least two years, with an optional one‑year extension, and will be awarded via an open procurement procedure under the Procurement Act 2023 Light Touch Regime.
All activities shall be carried out in accordance with statutory accessibility requirements and the specific provisions of the Care Act 2014, ensuring high‑quality, inclusive volunteer opportunities.
